After 20 years wearing a myriad of hats in the arts industry, Shannon Rodriguez’s floral work finds her merging her organic farming roots with her formal design training and an impeccable eye for aesthetics.

A 2009 Painting graduate of The Savannah College of Art & Design, Rodriguez’s subsequent endeavors saw her working both sides of the gallery, as a preparator hanging shows in museums and galleries around the United States, as well as having her art featured in exhibitions in both the United States and France. Following stints framing fine art across Massachusetts and Georgia, Rodriguez worked as a decorative painter, painting floor cloths, antique furniture, faux finishes, and murals in some of the East Coast’s finest homes.

After returning to her native Georgia, Rodriguez began a career segue back to her country roots and has worked as an organic flower and vegetable farmer for the last 12 years. Beginning in 2016 Rodriguez grew and made weekly flower arrangements for several prominent farm to table restaurants and their events, including Best Atlanta Brewpub winner Wrecking Bar Brewpub, and James Beard Foundation Best Chef winner Deer & The Dove and B-Side Decatur.

During this time, Shannon also began taking on her own weddings, events, and personal side gigs, and to date has worked as a florist for weddings and more across Georgia, and in Nashville, Tennessee. In March of 2021, Rodriguez launched her own floral design/art business Shan Makes Things, and has been spending her time growing, drying and designing florals, painting, and linoleum block printing.

Hi there!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m Shannon, the face behind the flowers. When I’m not making arrangements or working an event, I’m growing and drying flowers, farming and processing organic vegetables, painting, printmaking, spending time with family and friends, and going on adventures with my husband and fur babies. Endlessly inspired by Mother Nature, I am driven to highlight her at her best! Flowers are my passion, so if we work together I promise I’ll give you everything I’ve got! If you’re interested in seeing more of what I do, check out my Linktree. I look forward to hearing from you!
